There may be a possibility that you will use an FHA loan when buying your new home. Currently the minimum buyer contribution is 3% of the purchase price. On January 1, 2009 the minimum will increase to 3.5%. That means that if you buy a house at $200,000 and use an FHA loan before the end of the year, you will have to put down $6,000. After January 1, 2009 you will have to put down $7,000. Make the move by the end of the year to keep you down payment $$$ to a minimum. Contact your lender for more information.
